2010 E220 interior with COMAND controller (below-left gear shift) and navigation screenCockpit Management and Data system - COMAND for short - acts as a combined command and control centre for all, and functions on vehicles and includes a dedicated flat display screen. In addition to the navigation system and general processing and control logic, COMAND includes components such as an address book, telephone, radio and in many cases a CD/DVD drive. It is connected to other (often separate) devices such as CD/DVD changers, sound system and surround sound amplifier, receiver and the optional system via an optical fibre network. The first generations of COMAND used the optical network standard whereas later models are based on.A key feature of all COMAND systems is to provide deep integration between the various functions such as multimedia, navigation and telephony and to also allow multiple presentation and control facilities. An example of functional integration is where other audio sources can be muted when a phone call comes in or when navigation guidance is being given. It is also the case that the main audio system, speakers and microphone are used for all these functions instead of being logically and functionally separate.
With regard to multiple presentation and control facilities, COMAND based vehicles allow steering wheel controls to be used alongside the main COMAND buttons and controller and COMAND related status information and instructions can be displayed in the instrument cluster in addition to the main COMAND display. On vehicles with a factory fitted rear seat entertainment system, this also provides integration with the COMAND system, allowing for instance the rear seat displays to show content from the COMAND receiver or to play out the rear DVD audio over the car's surround sound system. On newer and models such as the, the integration between COMAND and other vehicle functions is even more complete, including access via COMAND to the system, seat controls, etc. On these cars, in contrast to most other vehicles, COMAND is part of the standard specification rather than an optional extra.COMAND was introduced first exclusively on the flagship S-Class and CL-Class models. Later, it became available on other Mercedes cars too. An early model UK-spec (right hand drive) W220 S-Class, with the COMAND system screen and buttons on the center console.Somewhat confusingly, COMAND 2.5 (not to be confused with the much later COMAND-APS NTG2.5) actually refers to the first generation of COMAND systems, introduced on the. The '2.5' label seems to refer to the fact that the main COMAND unit for this first generation had a height of 2.5. This COMAND system had a cassette drive, a built-in CD drive for the navigation map discs, an FM/AM radio tuner, a 4-channel amplifier and external connectors to other systems.
The European models used map discs (CD). Towards the end of 1999, the system was upgraded to use the improved DX type navigation discs.
COMAND 2.5 uses a optical bus for connection to the external CD changer, the telephone system, the optional surround sound system and the optional Linguatronic voice control system. The COMAND 2.5 unit was made by.COMAND 2.5 was an option on almost all models and denoted by option code 352.COMAND 2.0/COMAND 2.0 MOPF The same COMAND 2.5 technology (with DX navigation maps) was next incorporated in a somewhat different form factor known as COMAND 2.0 (with '2.0' referring to the fact that this modified unit had a 2 DIN height), but with the cassette drive removed. A W221 S-Class showing the location of the COMMAND screen to the right of the speedometerIntended for the flagship S-Class and the CL-Class, COMAND NTG3 is a high-end system. Unlike for most other cars, the and from now on have COMAND as standard, allowing even better integration and for COMAND to operate even more vehicle functions. The navigation maps are stored on an internal hard disk instead of a DVD disc (although updates are installed from an update DVD).
Command APS in a 200C 2011 modelSomewhat confusingly, COMAND-APS NTG2.5 was introduced after NTG4, replacing COMAND in models previously fitted with NTG1 and NTG2 systems (apart from the CLK as that model was replaced by the W207 E-Class coupe. The unit has a card reader in addition to the DVD drive. An optional DVD changer can replace the single drive. The option code is 512 for the single drive unit and 527 for the unit with the optional DVD changer. Like NTG4 models, it supports the Media Interface.
The unit also stores the navigation maps on an internal HDD which have some extra space for mp3 files.COMAND-APS NTG4.5 In late 2011, Mercedes starting fitting the new COMAND-APS NTG4.5 to its cars for Model Year 2012, and then to other models such as the, and SLK. It thus became the latest generation of COMAND for its non-flagship cars (i.e.
Cars other than the and ). It is also referred to as COMAND Online as it can use the mobile broadband connection on the telephone to connect to Internet based services. It allows the running of various downloadable apps (such as Facebook) in the COMAND system. It uses a 7' colour display and has a SD-Card slot. The resolution, which is quite good at the time, is 800.480.Initially, the graphics were brown and black, and this system became known as GEN1. The colour scheme of the display were then changed to Grey/Black/Red at the same time as the graphics in the instrument cluster changed and this is known as GEN2 and coincided with the MY2013 update.
Initially different firmware was used in GEN1 and GEN2, but later on the firmware for GEN1 and GEN2 was merged into 1 firmware release and the colour scheme became a run-time configuration item.Again, Media Interface is supported and maps are stored on a hard disk and restricted, as with NTG3.5, by a PIN based rights management protection feature. Like NTG3/3.5 it also has a separate rotary controller (although smaller than for NTG3/3.5 based vehicles).7' comes with the COMAND NTG4.5,5.8' comes with the audio 20/50 APS versions.COMAND-APS NTG4.7. COMAND Online NTG5.0Comand 4.7 or 3rd generation of Comand NTG4.5 was installed in vehicles from June 2013 onwards, such as GLK350(2015).
ATTENTION: Out of Market Clients. If you are not from the Abbotsford area we are unable to assist you with this product. We are not setup for internet sales or support. I would advise you to contact a quality car stereo retailer in your area and they can assist you with your Mercedes. Thank you.Upgrading or replacing a Mercedes-Benz COMAND Radio has traditionally been a difficult, expensive process. Getting a replacement radio from Mercedes Benz if your Command radio broke down was equally expensive ($5000 with a generous 90 day warranty). Fortunately now has a solution designed to fully integrate a modern stereo with or, USB, SiriusXM and GPS Navigation into your Mercedes-Benz dash.
All without the added expense of changing amplifiers and speakers! We can even add a to your Mercedes Benz. Mercedes-Benz featuring a Kenwood Navigation Radio upgrade using the COMAND Radio Replacement Module Interface to replace Mercedes-Benz COMAND RadioDriven Audio is now offering the world’s first radio replacement module to work with many Mercedes-Benz COMAND Radio equipped vehicles on the M.O.S.T network. Many Mercedes radios from 2003 to 2008 vehicles, don’t have Bluetooth or they have outdated Bluetooth that may not be compatible with today’s phones. When the factory radio breaks, the factory replacement radio can cost $4,000 to $5,000. Mercedes-Benz COMAND Radio Upgrade ModuleWith our module, the replacement cost is drastically reduced. This provides the vehicle owner updated features such as Apple Car Play, Android Auto, updated Bluetooth with dual phone support and more.
The kit works with radios from Pioneer, JVC and others. The interface works on the M.O.S.T. Fiber optic system used by many Mercedes-Benz Command Radio systems. Typically if you were to remove a factory Mercedes radio to add an aftermarket radio you would also need to replace the speakers and amplifier.
This creates a more expensive install. The module permits us to replace the radio and use the factory amplifier and speakers. The interface accepts the analog audio outputs of a new aftermarket radio, and converts them to an optical signal compatible with the M.O.S.T. Protocols used in the audio system from Mercedes-Benz. I just bought a JVC KW-V840BT to replace my original factory radio system in my S430. I didn’t realize the analog/digital difference between the aftermarket system and the original one. The install technician told me that he’d have to hardwire the JVC radio to the car to bypass the original digital amplifier. He didn’t say anything about replacing the speakers.
Does your upgrade module do the same thing as hardwiring? Is one approach better than the other? Also, is there somewhere where I can just get a replacement digital audio system to just plug into the MOST system to swap out the original one? After a BRUTAL experience with a different store, I went to see the guys at Certified. Bought from here before (remote starter), and my work buys all the van decks from here too.
These guys really know what they are doing, if they say you need certain parts for an install, believe them. They are very knowledgeable about the product they carry and VERY knowledgeable about the different vehicle install requirements.
They took the time to listen to my needs and requirements and put together several packages that would suit my needs in varying price ranges.A SUPER bunch of professionals. I just had speakers, an amp, and a 10' sub installed this past week in my 2015 Jeep Wrangler. I was especially impressed by the installation of my sub. I was a bit concerned the sub was going to take up additional room in my already small cargo area but left it in the capable hands of Nick and his crew.
Much to my surprise the guys worked their magic and created a custom install that blew me away!! Nick and his crew went above and beyond for me, they stayed within my budget and within the time allotted for the install. This is the 2nd vehicle in our household to have work done here in the past few months and would recommend Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford to anyone considering an upgrade to their car audio. I had a problem with my recent install with Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford as I was getting a nasty popping sound every time I turned off my stereo. I thought it was a problem with a new amp but it turned out to be the stereo that was causing a surge in power when turned off.
I had previously got this installed by them as well and surprisingly they replaced it with a new unit under warranty, free of charge! Now everything sounds the way it should and I couldn't be happier! Thanks so much guys:) 11/10 Would come again. I just had my 2015 Touareg Sportline “aurally rehabilitated” at Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford and I must say, of all the cars I have owned and that is many, the sound post-rehab is the best!I purposely purchased the lowest-end Touareg without the sunroof and Dynaudio for a reason. First, I do not like sunroofs (they are prone to leaking, wind intrusion, decreased safety margin in case of a rollover, etc.) But the basic Touareg has the problem that the audio system is mediocre at best.Being an audiophile, this was clearly not going to work for me. Therefore, I contacted probably half a dozen “high end” automotive audio refurbishers in both the U.S.
And Canada, all the way from San Jose, CA to Toronto. I also investigated the local talent in Vancouver, including one long-standing “stand out” who shall go unnamed and yet another local “expert.”I regret to say that none of these options were acceptable and for different reasons. It is not that all were incompetent (two were, the “local talent.” The U.S. Options wanted as much as US$15,000 for their work and the lowest local talent wanted over $5,000 in Canadian dollars. I just intuitively knew there had to be a better deal within driving range. And finally, after much searching and inquiring and serious research I came upon Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford, a literal half-hour in moderate to severe traffic from where i live. I spoke initially with Nick Pocklington, a veritable expert in sound staging and DSP (digital signal processing). He veritably was the first HONEST automotive audio technician I had come across.
I have dealt with Future Shop and Best Buy before, they were a nightmare. I went to Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford to get stereo taken out, and wound up getting a new system from them. I talked with Nick and Jeff and they were great, no high pressure sales. They gave me a good price and are both nice guys, none of your typical salesman b.s. Jason did a great job of install and between him and Nick, they showed me how to work it, as I am a dinosaur when it comes to new technology. It's a nice clean shop and a nice store.
I recommend these guys and will only get stuff from them in the future. When our car stereo began to malfunction, we decided we needed to replace it. The radio would turn on as soon as we started the car, and none of the controls would work. Canadian Tire didn’t have a suitable one in stock but also doesn’t install stereos; the clerk recommended Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford. Best Buy and London Drugs no longer sell automobile sound systems; both recommended Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford.
When we went there, Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford had the simple system we needed at a reasonable price. But, intrigued by our system’s problem, Certified Autosound and Security's Jeff Wong took a look at our old unit and managed to reset it, at no charge. The stereo now works fine. However, when it does finally pack it in, there is no question about where we are going to go for a replacement—Certified Autosound and Security. Very pleased with my backup camera and Carplay / Bluetooth stereo set up.
When I first started phoning around was drawn to the customer service with the initial phone call. It continued once I entered the show room allowing me to make an informed choice. No pressure sales -so glad though I decided to have my CarPlay radio hooked up to my steering wheel controls. (even though the Carplay screen was within easy reach) Very happy with my steering wheel controls!!!Highly recommend Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford.
Big thanks to the guys at Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford! I went into the shop on a saturday afternoon with my 08 Sierra and came out with exactly what I wanted installed and ready to rock by Monday at 4pm. Couldn't be happier with my new system the guys listened to what I had in mind, threw a system together they thought would meet my needs and thats exactly what I got for a great price!!
I was walking to and from my appointment and they even had the courtesy to give me a call with plenty of warning exactly when my truck would be finished. Punctual, great service! Thanks again to the guys at Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford. The gentlemen at Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford have installed an overhead monitor and a Clarion sound system in my vehicle to help entertain our many little ones.
The kids love being able to watch movies and music calms the savage beast:)Recently the youngest inserted coins into the disc deck which interfered with everything. Thankfully, the coins didn't short circuit and the technicians removed the coins for me.Timely, polite, informative, caring, professional.I will be returning to Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford for anything I need in the future. My experience with the team at Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford has been nothing less than perfect. I was pointed in their direction about 3 years ago and couldn't be happier that I did. They go over and above everything that I have asked them to do and always keep me well informed of anything they think can be improved without hurting the pocketbook and as a customer that is all you can ask for. It's nice to be able to go into a shop and actually want to hang out with the guys and even though they are quite busy they will give me the time to answer any of my many, many, many questions. As for the outcome and delivery of their work, it definitely speaks for itself.
Just sit in my car now and man am I beyond excited with the results! I was having a lot of problems with the first part of my build (done elsewhere). Nick, in particular took control of the situation and helped turn my system into what it is today. Scott's attention to detail on the install speaks in volume for the overall type of service that you will receive at Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford. Tony and Jeff have also given me a serious amount of valuable advise when picking and choosing the different gear for my build whether it be an alarm, head unit, amp, speakers or DSP. I highly recommend going to Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford for all your mobile needs, the return in service will speak for it self, guaranteed! I just wanted to say, thanks for being such a responsible and honorable company, they had made a mistake on my 2013 Toyota sienna and the problem was rectified and they bent over backwards to make me happy!
Was blown-away! The new pioneer stereo was top notch and i would recommend any new car install. Rob stone chill bill lyrics. Tony the owner is a very cool dude! Probably the best Car audio place in BC to go to.All of the steering wheel controls work with my new deck. Man i feel like a bad ass with my tunes pumping so crisp!thanks a lot.Robert H. Dodge Caravan DVD & Kenwood In Dash ReceiverLast Year I installed Kenwood - In-Dash Receiver, Remote Start, Backup Camera with the team at Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford, Abbotsford.
I travelled all the way from Pitt Meadows to Abbotsford to get the thing done. Their price seems to be reasonable and their installation service was very professional. They installed all the above mentioned service within a quick frame of time and doing neat and efficient job. It’s still working great.
I am really satisfied with their Professional work and great service. Nick was the person taken care of all my request (from the quotation until the installation work) and he has done a great job. I will highly recommend this place to my friends.
I phoned Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford to get a quote to put my stereo into my van which is a 2002 Chevy Venture. When Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford informed me that my vehicle had the vehicles lights and buzzers running through the radio so I would need additional hardware to bypass this and the total cost would be more than $200, I was upset at Chevy.Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford installed the unit and at the time of install found that the previous owner had already had an after market stereo in it, so the extra parts were there.
It would have been easy for them to charge me for the unneeded parts. Integrity in business is so admirable and I'll definitely be back to Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford. I am waiting to afford an amplifier and sub woofer. I've recommended them on FB and will definitely spread the word through people I know. I have been burnt so many times in the past.
I returned the next day just to thank them for their honesty and integrity. Amazing service and reasonable prices.Been having issues with crime in the area I live in, so put out leads for quotes for an alarm system in my truck. Got back some quotes but needed a quick installation.
Being a licensed mechanic I could of probably did it myself but nahhhh find a shop, reasonably priced and let the pros do it. Sure I got lower quotes from other places, but Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford was able to squeeze me in in short order thankfully. They put in a nice basic Viper system no bells or whistles like I needed. They did just what I needed and being a mechanic I went looking at the work, all I can say is nice and tidy and correctly done.Would I go back to expand the audio system?
I'd have to say yes, and no issues recommending them to my friends when it becomes more than me wiring a deck in the dash or basic speaker replacement.Thank you guys for making my experience a good one and also for getting it done in short order, it's much appreciated. Thank You!!Big boom. These guys can do the impossible.Reasonable plan set up for this luddite by Mr. He could have sold me way more than I need. But he didn't.The installation was a three person thing. I've been driving this little car on some very rough roads recently.
Usa Auto Radio
Not a rattle. Not a squeak. No snap-crackle-pop. The install is rock-solid.Thanks guys. I recommend you highly. And that kid I first spoke with.

On the phone. He should get a raise.Rick Maddocks. Great Work, Excellent Customer ServiceI own a 2007 Toyota Matrix. I bought my JVC deck, 6.5' Dragster speakers, and 10' Bazooka tube at different suppliers that were clearing product out. Having installed decks and speakers before I was considering putting everything in myself. With the weather being the way it has been, and not having an interior space to work, I gave up after installing the deck. I was referred to Tony at Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford by a friend.
He was more than happy to install my stuff, and his installer did a great job. The install on the speakers and subwoofer were top notch professional. The showroom is great and Tony is wealth of information about what is current in the car stereo industry. Overall a very pleasant experience.
I recommend highly!!!! Completely OutstandingI was recommended to go into Certified Autosound and Security in Abbotsford to help with getting the parts I needed to get a 12' sub installed in my Honda. Nick was unbelievably helpful! He managed to find out I had purchased the incorrect wiring kit I had already bought elsewehere, and saved me 70$ with getting a new one. And once I had the Sub installed by my friend privately he tuned it to make it sound tip top absolutely free of charge.
Great business, trustworthy employees, best you'll find in the Lower Mainland.
